PE & Sport Funding
Since September 2013, the government has provided additional funding to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding has been allocated to primary school Headteachers based on the number of pupils in Years 1 to 6.
Please click the links below to see detailed breakdowns of how we have used this additional funding to make substantial improvement to the quality of PE and sport that we offer, and the impact that it has had on our children.

Key Stage 2 Swimming Data
The national curriculum in England mandates that pupils must be able to swim confidently and proficiently over at least 25 meters, use a range of strokes effectively, and perform safe self-rescue by the end of Key Stage 2. We recognise that swimming is a vital life-skill for our children and due to this we teach swimming for one term in Years 2, 3, 4 and 5. If children have not met the required standard by the end of Year 5, then 'top-up' sessions are delivered in Year 6.

| Number of Children | 24 | ||
| Percentage of children that can swim competently over a distance of 25m | 81% | ||

School Games Mark
The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress. The school will be applying for the School Games Mark at the end of this year.

Participation in Sporting Activities
At Orchard Park Community Primary School, we work alongside Cambridge United FC to support our delivery of extra-curricular sports activities. At present we run 4 sporting clubs for children to access; KS2 Football, KS2 Girls' Football, EYFS and KS1 Multisports, and KS2 Multisports.
We are also members of the Cambridge School Sports Partnership which allows us many opportunities over the year to participate in both inclusive festivals and competitive tournaments with other Cambridge schools.
Children in Years 3 and 6 are offered the opportunity to take part in Level 1 and 2 Bikeability training, with the aim of building their confidence in riding their bikes safely while on the roads.
