What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is extra funding provided to schools in England to help close the attainment gap for disadvantaged pupils. It supports children who:
- Are eligible for Free School Meals now or at any point in the last six years.
- Are looked after or adopted from care.
- Have a parent serving in the armed forces.

Why Register?
If your child is eligible, the school receives additional funding to support their learning and wellbeing. Benefits include:
- Free school meals (including in Key Stage 2)
- Free or subsidised music tuition
- Free or reduced-cost after-school clubs
- Funded or subsidised school trips
- Support for holiday clubs
- Extra funding for pastoral care and academic support
How to Apply for Free School Meals
All parents must apply for Free School Meals for September 2026, even if you have previously been eligible.
- If your child is currently receiving Free School Meals, this entitlement will end on 31 August 2026.
- A new application is required from 1 August 2026 under the updated criteria.

How We Use Pupil Premium
Schools can choose how to spend this funding. At Orchard Park, we use it for:
- Academic support to raise attainment.
- Pastoral care to support wellbeing.
- Enrichment activities to give every child the best opportunities.
We publish:
- A yearly plan showing how we will spend the funding.
- An evaluation report showing the impact on pupils’ progress and wellbeing.
